A quick note to let you all know I’m still here. In fact, there’s some interesting things going on in the backrooms of the podosphere.. If/when things fall into place, I’ll let you know..
In the meantime, I’ve been looking for way to get some mobile recording done. I don’t really like the idea of dragging my mixer & mics & stuff around.. I’ve been thinking of using my minidisc recorder, and getting one of those T-Shaped Sony stereo electret condenser microphones..
If the mic sounds OK, Then I’d have my whole mobile rig fit into my (winter) jacket.. A very cool thing indeed… Thing is, the mic is about $110, ( a bit less if I bring it in from the US).. and I have no idea how it sounds.. Not to mention that after the holiday season, buying a bigger hosting package (since I’d blown the bandwidth I had) and various post-holiday credit card shock syndromes to come… Well… let’s just say it’ll be a while before I pick one up… (unless of course, someone can get me a deal 🙂 )
I really don’t want to use a phone, or one of those cheapie MP3 built-in voice recorder thingies to record.. I try to put out a nice tonality to the shows, and if I can avoid phone quality sound I will.
Since I often do conversational recording, I want a stereo mic that’s very directional, so each voice is predominant in it’s own left or right channel.. It gives a bit of freedom when editing, so you can adjust the sound to make both voices sound better.. I also like being able to pan a voice hard left or right in certain situations.. I love playing with the “soundstage” this way, it really lets me open up a recording…
Babble done for now. Happy jan 2, and don’t forget there are only 357 days until Xmas 2005! (urgh!)
