As of this morning, I’ve opened the registration for Podcasters Across Borders 2008, affectionately called PAB2008. Mark and I have been hard at work behind the scenes selecting speakers, timing the sessions, and doing a lot of preparation for this year’s event.

Today though, is the transition from “We could do.. ” to “Here’s what we’re doing. ” It all becomes real right now. The sessions have been announced, we are accepting registrations, the event is now building it’s own steam. The next challenge is for Andrea and Cat to tolerate us until the event is over :)

Even though it’s our 3rd year doing this, it’s still very exciting to me. The excitement of seeing the registrations pour in is as thrilling now as it even has been. The only less-thrilling part was actually having more speakers than timeslots this year, and boy did we try to find a way to squeeze everything in… Turns out though, that there are only so many hours in a day, and there’s a minimal time you can give to a speaker and still have them be able to deliver a message.

I’m quite proud of the fact that all our speakers are active community participants. To me that says more about the event than anything. We’ve never been about selling the speaking slots, and we’ve held firm to that again this year.

It’s going to be a great time, and I hope you get a chance to come out – the boat cruise is longer and bigger this year, and I have it on good authority that there should not be snow or any sort of that crap in June. If you check out this picture, you’ll see the cruise boats, the foreground glass-domed one is what we rode in last year, and I think this year it’ll be the paddle-wheeled one in the background.
