Mister Splashy Pants

Some people were taken aback by my “unsubscribe” post, as it was as political as I’ve ever been on this blog.

Fact is, when it really comes down to it, politics is not my game, and there are plenty of smart political blogs if you really want to see them, but this item moved me, so I thought I’d share.

I just read an item on Graham Linehan’s blog (Father Ted, IT Crowd) that makes me think there’s another issue I’d like you to consider. Greenpeace has a movement going where they’re after Japan for their questionable research techniques that involve killing whales.

As part of this initiative, they give names to the whales that they follow and study (and keep alive). There is currently some voting for the next name to be given, and while there are some beautiful names in the list, Mister Splashy Pants is in the lead.

Of course, some people are taking offense to this, and want that name taken off the list. My answer is that if the whale was in danger of being called Ameoba, Mingoo, Floo-Floo, or BeegFeesh, I wouldn’t even know about the issue, and that Mister Splashy Pants has already done more for the cause than BeegFeesh even could..

So join me in voting for Mister Splashy Pants, and sending the message to the stuck-ups that just because something is a serious issue, it doesn’t mean a smile doesn’t do the job in getting the word out.

    Awesomely funny!
Why can’t we have a laugh and save the world at the same time??

Mister Splashy Pants is in the lead with 73% followed by Humphrey with an impressive… 4%

This is priceless! 🙂 I already casted my vote.

Seems to me you’re floating on some thin partisan ice. “Mister Splashy Pants”? What about the female voters? What about cross-dressers? What about Wonder-bread Mid-western, Salt-of-the-Earth Americans who couldn’t be “splashy” if they tried. I really think you should reconsider and not take such volatile stands.

This had to be the best part of my day (which is sad when you think about it) I’m spreading the word to get the vote out!

There’s a lot to be said for Splashy Pants. He’s got my vote.

  7. That’s hilarious! I voted for Mister Splashy Pants mainly because I want the lunch pail that will inevitably come from the ensuing marketing machine. I’ve notified all my friends to vote likewise.
