While it certainly is a bummer to get a defective machine shipped to you, I’ve heard of many manufacturers that would force you to go through an elaborate series of repair requests and warranty claims as soon as the unit was in your possession.

I’m glad to see that Apple replaced your defective machine outright after only one phone call, and even refunded your expedited shipping!

I’m willing to think this is a blip and the next one will be fine.

Having used nothing but IBM (now Lenovo) Thinkpads since 1993 – I’ve sung their praises forever, but I’m sure some people have received non-working units. These things happen..
